KPM is back with limited online offerings due to the continued impact of COVID-19 and gathering in person. Jamie continues to teach in-person classes at Defy Gravity Pole and Aerial Arts Studio in Urbana, IL.
Jamie began teaching movement classes at Defy Gravity in August of 2015 and began Kitty Power Movement during the 20-21 COVID-19 pandemic to continue moving with her students online.
At Defy Gravity, she developed and currently teaches Fluffy Kitty™ Pole, a class for plus sized individuals and has expanded the curriculum to include Fluffy Kitty™ Flow, Fluffy Kitty™ Flex, and Fluffy Kitty™ Flirt. Jamie holds certifications from ElevatED (Levels 1 and 2) and PoleandAerial.com (Pole and Pole Silks), WERQ dance cardio, Liquid Motion 1.0 and has completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training with Carly Stong (https://www.carlystong.com/). Her love of movement is most exemplified in Burlesque Basics which she began teaching in 2015 with the opening of Defy Gravity.
This is a space for all bodies to feel seen and heard, especially those that have felt left out, ignored or ridiculed in traditional wellness spaces.
Jamie’s extensive background in performance naturally led her to fall in love with the sensual and comedic aspects of burlesque, but she also enjoys exploring all other styles of pole, dance, and movement.
As a performer, Jamie is committed to performances focused on intersectional feminism, fat liberation, and unapologetic self-expression. She is also a fierce lover of cats.
